![]() To begin just past the White Hart Inn, you start with a still downhill along Castle Street, because the clue is in the name that Sudeley Hill passes the nearby castle, famed for being the burial place of King Henry VIII's sixth wife Katherine Parr.īeyond Sudeley Castle's entrance, the road just turns itself into an absolute monster. Starting in Winchcombe, this climb will be featured as the first climb on the Tour of Britain stage. Take a break in the car park and then admire the views. There are a few places on the side to stop and have a breather but only until you reach the National Trust car park at the top can you see the gradient you've conquered. The only benefit is that the first couple of stretches are under shade. The ride starts off with ease along Church Street past the St John the Baptist and St Lawrence Church, but then the road does drag a little around a bend and onto Hill View.
